Newton is a small country town on State Highway 36 about 5 miles northeast of Interstate 79 Exit 34. It is served by a post office, convenience store, laundrymat and community center. Several small businesses are close by including farms and contractors.

The Community Center is operated by the Three Forks Community Action Association. Events are held there to raise money for a variety of community needs. “We held a Longaberger Basket Bingo and raised more than $8,000 in one night for a woman who has cancer,” explained Jean Bienvenue, Three Forks Secretary. “We also have a scholarship fund for youth ambassadors.” For information about the Community Center call Janie Keylon at 304-565-4926.

Sandra Kinder is the owner of the Newton Store and the Newton Laundromat. “Newton is a good community to have a business in,” said Ms. Kinder. “We keep the laundrymat very clean so people come from Clay and Wallback to wash their clothes.” The store sells convenience items and gasoline. It also has a restaurant inside. For information about the Newton Store call 304-565-4551.
