The Central Appalachia Empowerment Zone of West Virginia is a federally designated Rural Enterprise community. It serves all of Clay County and portions of four other counties including Braxton, Fayette, Nicholas and Roane. In 1994, these communities developed a grassroots plan for improving the economy and quality of life of the region. The resulting federal designation has allowed the CAEZ to access significant resources to implement the plan. The CAEZ is a nonprofit corporation governed by a 19-member Board of Directors who represent a cross section of the area's population. The organization is working to implement its plan with emphasis on such areas as: Education, Economic Development, Housing and Infrastructure. For more information contact:
Non-Discrimination The CAEZ does not discriminate on the basis of race,
creed, religion, sex or national origin.
